He was described as being of medium height and slender build with hazel eyes and black hair. When they were married in Jun 1925 Thomas was living at 107 Mason Street in Salem and worked as a pattern maker while Ellen was living at 4 Osgood Street in Salem and was a shoe worker.
When Thomas filled out his WWII draft registration card in Apr 1942 he and Ellen were living at 104 Proctor Street in Salem. Thomas was described as being 5' 7 1/2" tall with hazel eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion. He was employed at the time by the General Electric Co. River Works in West Lynn, Mass. At the time of his death in 1954 he worked as a pattern maker and they were living at 104 Proctor Street in Salem. Ellen worked as a dietary worker at Salem Hospital before her retirement. |

Elbert W. Calef Jr., 86, died Feb. 27 in Agawam. He was born in Salem on April 19, 1919, a son of Elbert W. Calef and Josephine F. (Lonergan) Calef. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as an accountant for Wentworth Institute. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Manchester by the Sea and St. Maximilian Kolbe in Port Charlotte, Fla. He loved his wives, dancing and golf. He is survived by two sons, Bob Calef, of Plympton, and Paul Calef, of Beverly; four stepchildren, James DiDonato, of Haydenville, Joan Morris, of Simsbury, Conn., Jane DiDonato-Whyte, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., John DiDonato, of Arnold, Md., a sister, Marie McGinnis, of Beverly, a niece, Paula Rankin, of Raymond, N.H., eight grandchildren, Caty and Susan DiDonato, Jeffrey and Jessica Morris, Jim and Molly Whyte, and Ben and Sam DiDonato. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie DiDonato, his first wife, Catherine Johnson, and by sisters Virginia Burkinshaw, of Beverly, and Patricia McSwiggen, of Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, 01915, or the Jimmy Fund. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Beverly. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Childs Funeral Home of Haydenville is in charge of the arrangements. |

George A. Barbeau died peacefully at home with his devoted wife of 54 years by his side. He was the son of late George and Alice Barbeau and grandfather of late Scott George Barbeau Jr. George was a petroleum inspector and a local lobsterman for many years, he was also an avid muscle car enthusiast. Working on motors and helping friends and family members with car and boat repairs was one of his many passions. George was a lover of all animals, especially all his dogs through the years. He is survived by his wife Maryann; two sons, Scott and Mark and one daughter, Jennifer. Two daughters in-law, Stephanie and Jowita; one son in-law, Diarmuid Noonan and one grandson, Luke Noonan. One brother, Richard Barbeau and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may by made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. |

Frances (Francesca) Dolan, formerly of 1 Looney Avenue, Salem, MA, died on 2/04/2012 at Thompson House Nursing Home in Brattleboro, VT; she had resided there for the past three-and-one-half years. The daughter of the late Antonia and Giovanni Actis, Frances was born in Gonic, New Hampshire on October 4, 1916. On September 13, 1942 she married Charles A. Dolan of Salem, MA; he predeceased her on May 16, 1999 after 56 years of marriage. Frances leaves her daughter Claire Markey and husband Frank of Brattleboro, VT and son Richard Dolan and wife Sandra of Searsport, Maine. She also leaves her brother Louigi Actis of Peabody, MA, brother-in-law Robert Dolan and wife Nancy of Amesbury, MA, and sister-in-laws Helen Actis and Alice Dolan, both of Peabody, MA. Frances is survived by her grandchildren Charla Spellman and husband Chris, Drew Markey and wife Sarah, Zachary Markey, Ross Dolan and Alec Dolan; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Christopher, Ashleigh and Caroline Spellman, and Sophia and Ava Markey. She leaves an extended family of nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Frances was predeceased by her sister Lena Cares and brother Angelo Actis. Frances grew up in the Cape Cod area, eventually settling with her family in Peabody, MA. Following her marriage she moved to Salem, MA, where she resided most of her adult life. During World War II, she was employed by various industrial plants in the Virginia area. For many years Frances was a bank teller at Salem Savings Bank.1 |

| His obituary appeared in the an unknown date Bangor Daily News|SEARSPORT - Richard "Rich" Dolan, 65, passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born July 26th, 1950 in Salem, MA, the son of Charles and Frances (Actis) Dolan. Rich graduated from Salem High School and Salem State College with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Rich was also a talented musician playing several instruments, favoring his Martin Guitar. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. As a young man he made a profession of singing, playing and performing in the Boston area. He knew many songs by heart and played them often at family gatherings. In 1981 Rich moved to Maine with his future wife Sandy. They married in Searsport in his mother-in-law's back yard in 1984. They built their home in Searsport and raised their two sons Ross and Alec. In 1987 he went to work for the IRS. He started out at the front desk, eventually working his way up to office manager of Revenue Agents in Bangor, Augusta and Portland. From 1995-2000 he served as President of the Maine chapter of the National Treasury Employees Union. From 2000-2005 he served as Vice President of the National Office of NTEU. He was brought to retirement by cancer in the Spring of 2015. Rich will be remembered as a fun, generous and above all, loving, father and husband. He loved to garden. Work around the house and engage a good novel by the fireside during winter months. Rich enjoyed travel including trips with his family to Ireland, Italy, Canada and all over the USA. He is survived by his wife Sandy Dolan of Searsport ME, sons Ross and Alec Dolan of Portland ME, older sister Claire and husband Frank Markey of Brattleboro, VT. He is predeceased by both of his parents. There will be a gathering of remembrance with family and friends held in the Spring at the family home. and read as follows.3
