| In the 1910 Salem city directory she was single, working as a clerk, and living with her mother at 44 Broad St. Her mother was a grocer at the time so she may have been a clerk in the store. When she got married the following year she was still living at home and no occupation was given, while Richard was a "laborer" living at 30 Wellman St. in Beverly, Mass. When their children were born between 1912 and 1922, Richard was a chauffeur and they were still living at 30 Wellman Street. They were still there when their ten year old son John died on the day after Christmas, 1926. Their grandson John Powers Minigan states that Richard, Mary and the children lived on the second floor and half of the third floor, while Richard's sister May and brother Francis lived on the first floor and the other half of the third.
At the time of her death Mary was a widow living at 47 Balch Street in Salem. Her death certificate went into some detail about the cause of her death. She had a history of heart disease and diabetes and was in the hospital with complications in July 1962. On the 14th she attempted to recover a roll of tissue and fell, fracturing her right humerus and her nose. On the day she died she had her cast removed at the outpatient department of Beverly Hospital. Afterwards she walked to her car, sat down, and "suddenly expired." |
