Beloved sister to the late Robert, Edward, Frederick, John, Thomas and Evelyn (Rawlings). Dearly loved aunt of Bryan, Frances, Steven, Maureen, Linda, Edward, Blanche, and the late Johnnie. Resting at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 5610 Sherbrooke Street West. Funeral service from St. Monica's Church (6405 Terrebonne Ave., N. D. G.) on Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m. Interment Cote des Neiges Cemetery.2

The 1940 census taken in April found his family at 594 Union Avenue in the Bronx, NY, which appears to be a large apartment complex with many other families. Edward was employed as the foreman in a retail grocery company. Sadie was a packer in a wholesale meat company. Their two sons were living with them but no children younger than eight years old were mentioned. When he filled out his World War 2 draft registration form in Oct 1940 he and his wife Sadie were still living at 594 Union Avenue. No employer was listed. He was described as being 5'10" tall weighing 165 lbs. with blue eyes, red hair, and a light complexion. He also had the tattoo of a heart on his right forearm.

There is absolutely no evidence to presume or indicate that the two branches of the Harrold family herein are in any way closely related. That they are related in some way is not in question, but the appearance here of William and James as brothers is only a convenient fiction that allows the genealogy database they are in to spin them off as one big genealogy file.
