| His death certificate said he came to the U.S. when 21 years old, moved to Cambridge and got in the cigar business. His obituary said he had four sons, John, Lewis, Edward, and Frederick, and one daughter, Mrs. Burt Rivers. He was the part owner of Lewis & Aaron cigar manufacturers in Cambridge with Frederick C. Parker. They were located at 513 Main St. in Cambridge and first appear in the city directory there in 1878. |
| His obituary appeared in the 8 November 1902 Cambridge Tribune and read as follows:
Death of Lewis Aaron. Lewis Aaron, a well known Massachusetts avenue lulsiness man, tiled Thursday morning, at his home, 7 l"p--ton street, after an Illness of about two weeks, with brain trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron had only recently returned from abroad. His daughter's marriage took place a few weeks ago. Mr. Aaron was born In London, England, In June, 1846, and came to this city about 33 years ago. While in England, he learned the cigar maker's trade, and after coming to Cambridge opened the Aaron & Parker cigar manufactory of Brookline street. About a dozen years ago the manufactory was given up and a store was opened on Massachusetts avenue, just below Norfolk street. Here a wholesale and retail tobacco business was carried on successfully by the firm, and later by Mr. Aaron alone, Mr. Parker having died. Mr. Aaron leaves a widow, one daughter, Mrs. Burt Rivers, and four sons. Messrs. John, Lewis, Edward and Frederick Aaron, all of this city. He was a member of St. Omer Lodge, Knights of Pythias. Brighton Council, Royal Arcanum. Victory Lodge, Sons of St. George, and of the A. O. U. W. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, corner of Massachusetts avenue and Mount Vernon street. Rev. C. H. Perry will conduct the service, and the burial will be in Cambridge cemetery.3 |
