Birth*Allen T. Hamblen was born on 27 November 1839 in Gorham, Cumberland County, MaineG
Marriage*He married Elizabeth M. Young, daughter of John Young and Eliza Underwood, on 15 February 1866 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG.1,2
Death*Allen died of a perinephritic abscess on 16 February 1911 at the Soldier's Home in Chelsea, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.3
Burial*He was buried on 18 February 1911 in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG.3
His occupation was tinman in the 1855 Massachusetts state census and teamster on his marriage record in 1866.

He served in the Civil War. Enlisted in Company B, Massachusetts 1st Infantry Regiment on 01 Sep 1862. Mustered out on 25 May 1864 at Boston, Mass. Enlisted in the Massachusetts 16th Light Artillery Battery on 02 Sep 1864. Mustered out on 27 Jun 1865 at Camp Meigs, Readville, Mass.

In the 1866-67 Cambridge city directory there is an Allen Hamlin, carpenter, living on Franklin Street near Hancock. His father was in the same directory living on Harvard Street but listed under the last name of Hamblen. The directories tended to misspell their last name a lot.

The 1876 Cambridge directory lists an Allen Hamlin, laborer, living at 24 Hancock Street. In 1877 it is Allen Hamblen, junk, home on Warren Street opposite Jefferson. The next year he is a tin peddler living at 383 Cambridge Street. In 1879 he was a tin peddler now living at 12 Hancock Street.

In the 1880 Cambridge directory he was a tin peddler living at 103 Webster Ave., but in the 1880 census they were recorded as living on Columbia Street in Somerville, Mass., and Allen's occupation was given as laborer. He is not listed in the 1881 Cambridge directory so may indeed have moved to Somerville, but in 1882 he is back in Cambridge, again listed as a tin peddler, and this time living at the rear of 203 Franklin Street. Directories beyond 1882 haven't been searched yet.

The informant on Elizabeth's death record was a Maria Thompson of 74 Cherry Street, which was where Elizabeth lived, so she may be a daughter.
