Lydia York
F, b. 30 April 1780, d. 30 May 1873
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Lydia York was born on 30 April 1780 possibly in Brentwood, Rockingham County, New HampshireG.1,2 |
Marriage* | She married David Fairbanks, son of Joseph Fairbanks and Sybil Grover, on 22 May 1802.3 |
Death* | Lydia died on 30 May 1873 in MaineG.3 |
| The Fairbanks and Howe genealogies states that Lydia was the daughter of Joseph York and Susannah Howe of Monmouth, Maine, but Joseph and Susannah filed their intention of marriage in Monmouth in 1813, so she was at least a second wife. Census records from before and after that time period also indicate the presence of an older wife in 1810 and earlier. If, as I suspect, Joseph of Monmouth is the same person as the Joseph who was from Brentwood, NH, his wife's name in 1794 was Joanna, but her maiden name is unknown. |

- This birth record was for an unnamed female Gilman so it may not be for Margaret. In addition, the mother on the birth record was named Anna while the mother on Margaret's marriage record was named Constance. In both cases the father was Arthur S. Gilman. A corrected record for this birth was made 9-11-79 and should be checked but when the staff at Mass. Vital Records searched for it they couldn't find it. It likely was corrected to show her first name. Also her marriage record in N.H. states that she was born in Bellows Falls, VT., so her actual place of birth is uncertain.
