Ten years later the 1920 census finds them at 52 Hammond St. in Lewiston with six children. It states that Marshall came to this country from Canada in 1890.6 The 1930 census finds them living on Sabattus Road in Lewiston with eight children. Marshall worked as the overseer in a cotton mill.7 |

George Leroy Wallingford
M, b. 13 May 1876 or 77, d. 10 May 1946
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | George Leroy Wallingford was born 13 May 1876 or 77 in Rome, Kennebec County, MaineG.1 |
Marriage* | He married Annette J. Malone, daughter of John Malone and Annie Foster, on 8 May 1927 in Danvers, Essex County, MassachusettsG. George was an engineer and Annie was a nurse and they were both living in Danvers when they were married. Annie was a widow, her first husband's surname being Rogers. It was the first marriage for George.2 |
Death* | George died of a sudden heart attack, on 10 May 1946, at home, 171 Walnut St., in Bridgewater, Plymouth County, MassachusettsG. He was buried on May 12th in Walnut St. Cemetery in Bridgewater..3 |
| George is found in Bridgewater, Mass. in the 1900 census, where the 23-year-old was living in a boardinghouse owned by Jane S. Hildreth on Plymouth St. and working as the proprietor of a pool room.4 Ten years later he was living in the same place and employed as a worker in a shoe factory. He was also enumerated with his parents in the 1910 census of Canton, Maine a few days later. In 1920 he was living with his brother "Allie" Wallingford and his family at 102 Walnut St. in Bridgewater. He was working as an engineer in a leather mill at the time.5 In 1930 he and wife Annette J. were living at 16 Oak St. in Danvers, Mass. where he was employed as an engineer for a gas and electrical company.6 George was living in Bridgewater in 1942 and 1945 when he was the informant on the delayed birth records of his sister Edna and brother Guy. On his death ceritificate it said that his occupation was "stationary fireman". He was living at 171 Walnut St. in Bridgewater at the time, and had been living in Bridgewater for 40 years. His wife Annette, who was the informant on the death certificate, gave Everett, Mass. as her residence. Family members recall that George and Annette were separated, but apparently never divorced. Annette died in 1960, her residence stated as 80 Norwood St. in Everett, but she died at Bartlett Manor in Malden, Mass. after a stay of 1 year 10 months there. |

This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Jonathan Russell was born on 4 September 1694 in Rowley, Essex County, MassachusettsG.1 |
Marriage* | He may be the Jonathan Russell who married, Elizabeth Hutchins, on 19 September 1722, in Newbury, Essex County, MassachusettsG. They were both of Bradford at the time, and the marriage was recorded in the records of the Queen Anne's Chapel, an Episcopal Church in Newbury..2,3 |
| On 26 May 1718 Jonathan Russell of Rowley gave bond with Joseph Poore of Newbury for the administration of the estate of his father Daniel Russell of Rowley. Jonathan made his mark while Joseph signed. In this document Jonathan was described as the only son and child of Daniel Russell late of Rowley deceased intestate.4
Jonathan and Elizabeth had at least four, and probably five children, all of whom were baptized between 1727 and 1733 in Bradford, the first one at the First Congregational Church and the other three at the Second Congregational Church. The first male and first female were named Daniel and Hannah, which is a strong indication that we have the correct person here. The other two were Abigail and Susanna.5 This first Hannah apparently died in 1736, as the vital records of Rowley record the death of a ten year old Hannah Russell, daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth Russell, on August 16th. The age and mother's name match our Hannah, but the father Ebenezer is a puzzle. Professional genealogist George Ely Russell, C.G., F.A.S.G., who had been studying this family since 1944, says that there was no family of Ebenezer and Elizabeth Russell in Massachusetts at this time.6 He also points to a birth record for an unnamed son of Ebenezer and Elizabeth Russell in the Rowley vital records that predates the birth of Jonathan's son Daniel's Bradford baptism by only seven days. Apparently Jonathan either went by both names or the keeper of the church records was confused as to his name. George Ely Russell also states that Jonathan's 1763 will [Middlesex
County Probate file #19653] names a daughter Hannah, so presumably they had a second daughter by that name after the first one died in 1736, perhaps when they moved to Billerica, Mass. |
