Death*Joseph died on 26 January 1765.
In deeds he was referred to as yeoman or husbandman. He was owner of the highlands later known as "Prospect Hill" at Great Falls, NH and old records indicate that he owned the land on which was later part of the village of Great Falls. (From York County records, page 296, vol. xxvi, Thomas Butler, of Berwick, deeds to Joseph Wentworth, of Somersworth parish, Dover, N.H., yeoman, seven and one half acres of land granted to Thomas Abbot, jr., by the town of Kittery, 24 May 1699. [The whole grant to Abbot was 50 acres.]) His wife Rachel had dower set off 18 May 1769, land on southerly side of the road leading to Great Falls and one third of the mill privilege. The Wentworth genealogy says it was "impossible to find her maiden name."2
