CANASTOTA - Carol (Wallingford) Melton, 72, of 211 Spencer St., Canastota, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at her home after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Carol was born at home on Oran-Delphi Road and lived her life in central New York, mostly in Cazenovia and Manlius. She and her husband had moved to Canastota in 1999. She will be missed for her caring, kindness and generosity. Surviving are four daughters, the Rev. Janet (Mike) Gleason of South Onondaga, Martha (John Wier) Jeffery of Vernon, Joanne Melton of Canastota and Linda (Richard L.) Rossi of Canastota; three sons, David of Canastota, Tom of Yorkville and Timothy (Sally) of Minoa; a sister, Marilyn (Edgar) Marris of Cazenovia; a brother, Frank (Wanda) Wallingford of Cazenovia; three special sisters-in-law, Diane Wallingford of Cazenovia, Edith Harrison of Florida and Doris Melton of Idaho; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam Melton in 2000 and by three brothers, Lawrence, Albert and Charles Wallingford. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ayer & Zimmer Funeral Home, 38 Sullivan St., Cazenovia. Calling hours will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 211 Spencer St., Canastota, following the service. He was a warehouseman with G.T. Plumbing Supply, Liverpool. Mr. Wallingford was a member of the New York State Draft Pony and Mule Association. Surviving are his wife, Sally R; two sons, Brian of Tully and Bernard of Florida; a daughter, Melissa Wallingford of Tully; three brothers, Francis of Cazenovia, Lawrence of Phoenix and Charles of Oregon; two sisters, Marilyn Marris and Carol Melton, both of Cazenovia; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hartwell Funeral Home, 11 Clinton St., Tully.5 |

Francis I. Wallingford, a devoted family man, avid SU sports fan, US Army Veteran and dedicated member of our nation's National Security Agency (NSA), passed away at the age of 87 in Cazenovia, NY on December 8, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Francis (aka Frank, Uncle Sony) was born on January 10, 1931 in Syracuse, NY. Francis grew up in Cazenovia, New York and after graduating from high school, served honorably for 3 years in the US Army, from Jan 1952 to Dec 1954. After leaving the Army, he then went on to a distinguished career serving our nation with NSA. It was in Cazenovia where he met and married his first wife, Flora Jean (Werkmeister). Frank retired from NSA in 1987 and he and Flora came back to his beloved hometown of Cazenovia in early 1988. A short time later in June of 1988, Flora passed away. In 1997, he met and married Wanda (Wyatt) with whom he remained happily married to until his passing. Along with his wife Wanda, Francis is survived by his 2 sons, Kenneth (JoAnne) Wallingford and Steven (Jamie McGee) Wallingford, a step-daughter, Nancy Estep, numerous grandchildren, Frank (Alisa) Wallingford, Kristina Wallingford, Christopher Estep, Bethany (Alan) Clark, Julie (Rob) Matijas and Garrett Wyatt, and great grandchildren Kaia, Connor, Arianna, Jacqueline, Addison, Lucas, Kaitlyn. During his retired years, Francis was content spending time with family and friends, watching sports and attending to his 3 kids (cats), Fluffy, Amber and Dakota. He and Wanda also greatly enjoyed doing brunch and playing the slots at Turning Stone Casino. A calling hour will be held at 11 am-12 noon with a celebration of his life to begin 12 Noon on Saturday, Dec 15, 2018 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY 13045, followed by his burial in the St Mary's Cemetery in Cortland, New York.1 |

Marilyn A. Marris, 84, of Cazenovia, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 2016, at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. She was born in Syracuse, a daughter to the late Calvin and Adeline Hand Wallingford and lived all her life in Cazenovia. Marilyn worked alongside her husband on their family farm and she was a daycare provider for several years. Marilyn enjoyed playing Solitaire, gardening and mowing her lawn. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edgar H. Marris who died February 9, 2014. Marilyn is survived by her children, Sheila A. Marris of Nelson and William (Teresa) Marris of Cazenovia; a brother, Frances (Wanda Wyatt) Wallingford of Cazenovia; four grandchildren, Emily (Russell) Schaefer, Alyssa DiAngelo, Kimberlee Marris and Brady Marris as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services: 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6, at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. Calling hours: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
