He was born in Boston's West End and had worked for the MBTA for more than 35 years, until he retired three years ago as a foreman. He leaves his wife, Mary L. (Aaron); a son, John F. Cuddy 3d of Dorchester; two daughters, Mrs. Joan O'Shea of Dorchester and Mrs. Geraldine Peterson of Brockton two brothers, Atty. Francis X. of Jamaica Plain and Paul L. Cuddy of Quincy; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Horrigan of Quincy and seven grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be said Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Dorchester.3 |

MALDEN – Joan Marie Wallingford, age 73, passed away on January 10, 2022 at home with her loving daughter, Mary by her side. Born October 18, 1948 in Boston, MA to the late James and Mary Gardner. Joan was the 4 th of five children, having all sisters. After being raised in Boston, Joan resided in Portsmouth, NH, where she met her late husband, Llewellyn Wallingford of 30 years. She later found her way back to Massachusetts. Joan was a dedicated mother and nana. She absolutely adored her daughter, Mary and grandson, Tyriek. Family came first and was above all else to her. She truly was the epitome of love and strength. Joan lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Family card games, bingo, going to the casino and shopping brought her joy. She will best be remembered for her pure heart, caring nature and generosity. She was the definition of a great woman. Through many years of health issues, Joan exemplified courage, grace and strength beyond comprehension. There is comfort in believing she is pain-free and taking deep breaths with loved-ones who have left this earth before her. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Mendes and significant other, Evens Maurice; grandson Tyriek Mendes all of Malden,MA; sisters Fran Davis, Mary Thurston, Ruth Gray and Susan Mendes & husband Roy Sr. Nieces and nephews include Philip, the late John, Fran, Tony, the late Annemarie, Sandra, Debbie, Cathy, Steven, Joseph, Karen, Kevin, Roy Jr., Nikki and Kim; along with many friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life and gathering at Boston Cremation at 287 Main St. Malden MA on Thursday January 20th 9AM – 11AM.3 |
