SOUTH LEBANON, Maine - Mamie M. Wallingford, of 15 Carpenter Street, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at Colonial Hill in Rochester. Born March 19, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Izetta (Ferren) Stewart. She was a member of the Bethany Methodist Church in East Rochester. She worked for many years at Colby Footwear in Gonic. Members of her family include sons, Wayne Wallingford, wife Maureen, Stephen Wallingford, wife Kathy of Lebanon, Maine. Grandchildren, Robert Wallingford, wife Melissa, Michelle Williams, partner Michael Rennebu of Lebanon, Maine, Jesse Wallingford, wife Staci of Shapleigh, Maine. Great grandchildren, Hope, Robert Wallingford, Bryanna Williams, Brenda Mundt, and Katie Chase, husband Travis. Great great grandchildren, Emma Mundt and Hunter Chase. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and her friend Dawn Hatch. Special thanks to nieces, Rosella Rufiange and Kitty Scott. Her husband, Wayne preceded her in death. The family would like to thank Dr. Harrigan and Colonial Hill for their wonderful care and compassion. At Mamie's request there will be a graveside service in the spring.1 |

| Her obituary in the 19 June 1885 Waupaca County Republican reads: "DIED - DAYTON - In this city on the 18th inst. Roena, wife of the late Lyman Dayton, aged 83 years. Deceased was the mother of William and Laurette Dayton of this city, and she had lived in Waupaca county over 35 years, she with her husband settling Dayton in 1850. She was a kind mother, an exemplary christian woman and loved by all who knew her. From the effects of an accident in falling a few years ago she never fully recovered, but her life's work is over-she has gone to meet her reward. Rev. Chas. Baker of Marshfield will preach the funeral sermon at the residence, at 1 p.m., Saturday and the remains will be laid at rest in the Rural cemetery beside her late husband, who was buried there about eight years ago. Rev. Baker also preached the funeral sermon on that occasion."3 The same website that published the obituary giving the 18th as the death date states Roena's actual death date as the 10th. |
