Unconnected Wallingfords
M
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
| The individuals and families that follow are divided into five sections:
In the first section are the "Lebanon Wallingfords". These are people who all likely descend from John Wallingford and Lydia Garland of Lebanon, Maine, but exactly how is unknown and may never be known. The family was so large and the records so sparse that untangling the muddle could be impossible.
The second grouping are "Unconnected Families". These are family groups who may or may not belong to the Lebanon branch, but there is no hard evidence to show that they came from Lebanon. Some of these go on for several generations.
The third grouping contains "Unconnected Individuals". These are individuals, often with spouses, who are presently unconnected and have no children recorded for them yet.
The fourth family is the "Canadian Wallingfords", descendants of Joseph Nicholas Wallingford whose family reportedly came from the Manhattan, New York during or shortly after the Revolutionary War. How he fits into this genealogy is unknown but the genealogy of his descendants is so large that they deserve their own section.
The final small family is the family of Cato Wallingford, former slave of Thomas Wallingford of Somersworth. He deserves treatment in this genealogy but can't be placed in any of the existing families for obvious reasons.
Their listing below makes them appear to be siblings but that is not at all true, which will be obvious once you look at the various birth dates. They are just grouped this way so that the genealogy program that stores their information can print them out easily. |

George A. Goodrich
M, b. 1848, d. 24 August 1915
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | George A. Goodrich was born in 1848. If we calculate the date of birth from the age at death of 68-0-17 supplied by Shackford, we get a date of 7 August 1847, but the gravestone says he was born in 1848. Given that he and his brother were both apparently born in 1848, they may be twins.1 |
Death* | George died on 24 August 1915 in Berwick, York County, MaineG. He was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery on Pine Hill in Berwick, Maine.2 Dates on his gravestone are 1848-1915.1 |

Margaret Ann Bean
F, b. circa 1834
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Margaret Ann Bean was born circa 1834 in Mercer, Somerset County, MaineG.1 |
Marriage* | She married second Giles Wallingford on 15 January 1851 in Somersworth, Strafford County, New HampshireG.1 |
| The parentage of Margaret Ann Bean is uncertain. It is unproven at present but seems likely. A note passed down by descendants (described in full above) gives her full maiden name, and also states that her children later lived with their Bean grandparents. The 1860 census of Mercer, Maine shows these two children (George and Malinda) living in the family of John and Ann Bean, and there is also an Ann Wallingford there (spelled Walingford in the census) who is the correct age (25) to be our Margaret Ann (Bean) Wallingford. |

Martha J. Wallingford
F, b. circa 1830
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Martha J. Wallingford was born circa 1830 in MaineG. (Based on the 1850 census of Lebanon.) |
| She may be the Martha J. Wallingford of Lebanon, Maine who married on 18 May 1851 in Farmington, N.H., John E. Keniston or Kennerson of Alton, N.H.1,2 It may also be the "other" Martha J., daughter of the "other" John and Susan Wallingford. There is much confusion in these two families due to their various appearances in census records, and they may, in fact, be the same family. There is even another Martha J. Wallingford, this time in the 1850 census of Somersworth, aged 16, born in Maine and living with the family of Samuel and Ann (Wallingford) Randall.3 |
