Birth*Concetta (?) was born circa 1885 in ItalyG.1 
Marriage*She married first Sebastiano Bordieri, son of Salvatore Bordieri and Guiseppa Massa, before 1918 probably in ItalyG.2 
Death*Concetta (?) died of influenza on 28 September 1918 in Boston, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG. This was very likely the deadly Spanish flu that killed millions of people in 1918. On the page of the death record where her name appears most of the entries are deaths from influenza.3 
Burial*She was buried on 30 September 1918 in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG.3 
When his first wife Concetta died in September 1918 Sebastiano and Concetta were living at 175 Havre Street in East Boston.

  1. She was 33 when she died in 1918. There was no last name for her father on her death record, and her mother's name was given as Josephine Vanture. That has been changed here to the probable Italian spelling of Giusepping Venturi.
  2. Based on the death record of Concetta. Even though his second marriage record said it was his first marriage, that was clearly wrong, as this Concetta was married to Sebastiano Bordieri when she died and living at the same address. Also, when Sebastiano came to this country in 1918 it said that he was married, so the 1920 marriage to the second Concetta couldn't have been his first marriage.

He came to this country on 19 Oct 1908, said to be five years old, arriving in Ellis Island on board the San Giovanni with his uncle Paolo Buscemi, and headed to live with his mother at 165 Main St. in New Britain, Conn., where his uncle Paolo also lived.

He continued to reside in New Britain after his arrival here. The 1930 census found he and his wife 'Lossie' and their two children living at 17 Park Avenue. His occupation was listed as 'odd jobs' in the hardware manufacturing industry but he was currently unemployed. Living in the same house was the family of his aunt Santa (Buscemi) Bongiovanni. At some point between 1935 and 1940 they moved to 21 Park Drive in New Britain, which is where they were living in April when the 1940 census was taken. Stephen's occupation was given as "aircraft experimental.' He was said to have had only a 7th grade education, and his wife only a 4th.

When he filled out his World War 2 draft registration card in Feb 1942 he was still living at 21 Park Drive with his wife Lucy and working for United Aircraft - Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. He was described as being 5'4" tall weighing 165 pounds with brown hair and eyes and a dark complexion. He had scars on his forehead and chin.

The 1950 census found he and Lucy living with their son Paul and his wife Doris at 21 Park Drive in New Britain. Stephen worked as an aircraft machinist. Both he and Lucy were said to be naturalized American citizens.7,8 
His obituary appeared in the 29 August 1985 Tampa Tribune and read as follows:

STEPHEN J. BONAZINCA, 84, of Tampa, died Monday. A Tampa resident for 32 years from New Britain, Conn., he was a retired machinist for United Aircraft. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the New Britain Musicians Association. He is survived by his wife, Lucy P; a son, Paul S. of Newington, Conn; a daughter, Lena Maietta of Land O' Lakes; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.9
