Abraham Abrahams
M, b. circa 1855, d. 28 August 1902
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Abraham Abrahams was born circa 1855 probably in London, EnglandG. His date and place of birth vary wildly in the records. The 1900 census says he was born in England in Mar 1854. His age at death of 46-6-18 on 28 Aug 1902 calculates to 10 Feb 1856, and he was said to have been born in London, England on that record. His marriage record and the 1883 birth and death records of his twin sons Louis and Joseph give his birth place as Poland, and the 1884, 1885 and 1888 birth records of his children Solomon, Eva, and the second Louis, as well as Solomon's death record in 1885, say he was born in Germany. Daughter Annie's 1882 birth and the 1893 birth of the second Joseph both say England. His death record states that his parents were both born in Poland, but the 1900 census says England. |
Marriage* | He married first Esther Aarons, daughter of Louis Aarons and Rachel Sitters, on 10 July 1881 in Boston, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.1 |
Death* | Abraham Abrahams died of tuberculosis on 28 August 1902 at home, 3 Glenbrook Street in Boston, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.2 |
Burial* | He was buried in the Sons of Benjamin Cemetery in West Roxbury, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.2 |

- He was 64 when married in Nov 1907 and 66 in the 1910 census. Both records give his birth place as Germany. His marriage record gives his parents' names.

- He appears in the 1910 census and his wife Esther is a widow in 1920. This 1914 death record may be for a different Elias Clark but there is no other candidate in the Mass. vital records indexes between 1910 and 1920. The parents on this death record are for Joshe Clark and Ester Cobe. Only the Ester part is right. The age at death suggests a birth in Germany in 1842 rather than 1844, but it's close enough to probably be the right person with bad data. Also, the address on the death record on Wabeno Street is around the corner from where they had been living on Wyoming Street a few years earlier.
Eva Abrams
F, b. 16 December 1885, d. July 1973
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Eva Abrams was born on 16 December 1885 at 160 Dorchester Avenue in Boston, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.1 |
Marriage* | She married Nathan Satten, son of Emanuel Satten and Paulina Rothenstein, on 1 June 1919 on Roxbury Street in Boston, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.2 |
Death-SSDI* | Eva Abrams died in July 1973, and according to the Social Security Death index her last place of residence was Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, FloridaG.3 |
| In the 1910 census she was single and living with her mother and step-father at 8 Wyoming Avenue in Boston and worked as a tobacco shipper in a cigar factory. When they were married in 1919 Nathan was a letter carrier living at 69 Lawrence Avenue in Boston and Eva was a saleswoman living at 97 Crawford St. in Boston. Nathan was a letter carrier for the rest of his working life.
By 1920 they were living in a boarding house at 179 Walnut Avenue in Roxbury that was run by her aunt Esther Shumway. Her uncle Barney Aarons and his wife Rose lived there as well. When their daughter Lorraine was born in August of 1920 they were at 90 Harrishof Street in Roxbury. The 1930 census finds them at 1135 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
Boston City Directories show them living at 4 Park Vale Avenue in Allston in 1934 and 1935. By 1938 they were at 190 Warren, possibly the one in Brighton. By the next year they were at 40 Chester Street in Allston. Nathan and Eva and their daughter Lorraine were at 40 Chester Street when the 1940 census was taken. Nathan worked as a mail carrier for the Post Office. He was said to have had four years of high school, while Eva only had eight years of schooling. In June of 1942, when her brother Joseph Clark registered for the draft, he was also living at 40 Chester Street, which appears to have been home to several families in 1940. City directories show Nathan and Eva at that address up to 1944, but in 1945 and 1946 they were back at 190 Warren. Directories between 1947 and 1960 haven't been checked yet, but between 1961 and 1965 they were back at 40 Chester Street living in apartment 5. |
