A Lynn man drowned early Friday morning after he went into the water at Flax Pond. John Maselbas, 25, of Chestnut Street, reportedly was walking with two friends near his home about 2:30 a.m. when he told them he was going for a swim. Maselbas waded into the water, and moments later his friends lost sight of him. Divers recovered his body at 4:45 a.m. approximately 12 feet from shore..4 |

John J Maselbas Jr LYNN — The funeral of John J. Maselbas, Jr., 25, 580 Chestnut St., who drowned Friday in Flax Pond will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Solimine and Rhodes Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, with services at 10 in St. Pius V Church. Born in Saugus, he was the son of Mrs. Joan (Barteaux) Maselbas of Lynn and John J. Maselbas Sr. of Castlebury, Fla. He graduated from Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute in 1981 and for the past year was an auto body repairman at Steven’s Auto Sales in Salem. He also leaves a son John J. Maselbas III of Lynn; two sisters, Mrs Deborah A. Baron of Lynn and Doreen Maselbas oF Orlando, Fla; a niece, Randelle Baron of Lynn; his paternal grandmother Mrs. Frances Maselbas of Lynn, and several aunts uncles and cousins. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.5 |
