After Phebe's death in 1896 John moved in with his parents in Cambridge, which is where he was found in the 1900 census, at 212 Green Street. The only one of his children living with him at that time was Fred. John was a shipper in a collar factory.
Phebe also went by the name of Lena or Leona, one of which was likely her middle name. |
| When the 1880 census was taken in June 1880 Lena and John were living at 495 Pond Place in Cambridge. He worked as a teamster at the time. They were still living in Cambridge in Dec 1893 when their daughter Florence was born, and John worked as a shipper. |

| When they were married in Apr 1898 they were both living at 39 Magee Street in Cambridge. Frank's occupation stated simply "Calenders" and Eva worked "at home."
When the 1900 census was taken they were still at 39 Magee. Frank worked as a shipping clerk at the time. Eva's sister Florence Rogers was living with them.
The 1910 census of Cambridge found them living at 11 Tufts Street. Eva was said to be the mother of only one child, and that was 10-year-old Marion who was living with them. Frank's occupation is hard to read but it appears to say he was a chipper in a collar factory. [It does NOT say coffee.]
By 1930 they had moved to 214 North Central Avenue in Quincy, Mass. Their divorced daughter Marion Kilpatrick was living with them. Frank was employed as a weigher in a coffee house.
The 1940 census found the three of them at 185 Marlboro Street in Quincy, the same house they had been living in in April 1935 according to the census. Frank worked as a coffee blender in a coffee factory. On his death certificate 5 years later it gave the name of the coffee factory as the Dwinnel Wright Co. They were still at the same address and it said he had lived in Quincy for 18 years.
When she died in 1968 Eva was widowed and living with her daughter Marion at 52 Florence Street in Quincy. |
| In June 1900, when the census was taken, Eva and Frank were living at 39 Magee Street in Cambridge. Frank was employed as a shipping clerk at the time. |

Birth* | Bessie Marie Rogers was born on 5 January 1880 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG.1 |
Marriage* | She married Charles F. Strachan on 3 June 1899 in Manhattan, New YorkG.2 |
Death* | Bessie Marie Rogers died in 1965.3 |
Burial* | She was buried on 4 June 1965 in Green-Wood Cemetery, Lot 21047, Section 156 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New YorkG.4 |
| In the 1900 census Bessie and Charles were living at 73 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. Charles worked as a Post Office clerk. Living with them were three of Charles' siblings - Margaret, Nellie and Frank - as well as a servant and a boarder. When their son Charles was born in 1904 they were living at 756 East 138th Street in the Bronx. When Ethel was born in 1907 they were at 590 East 138th.
In 1910 they were at 446 East 136th Street in the Bronx in a rented house with two other families, and Charles was still a Post Office clerk. Bessie was the mother of three children, all living. The 1915 state census found them at 470 East 139th Street in the Bronx and Charles was in the same job. In 1920 they were at 1216 Seneca Avenue in the Bronx and Charles' job title at the Post Office as "framer clerk." They were still at that address in 1925 and Charles put down "P.O. Cashier" as his occupation.
By 1930 they had moved to 1201 Gilbert Place in the Bronx but Charles had the same job. The 1940 census found them at 891 Faile Street in the Bronx, with Charles still a P.O. Cashier. In Feb 1942 they were at 139 Payson Avenue in Manhattan when son Charles filled out his WW2 draft card. They were still there in 1950 and Charles Sr. was no longer employed at the age of 79, so son Charles was the only breadwinner in the family. |

This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Arthur Edward Aaron was born on 21 December 1904 at 312 Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown.1 |
Death* | He died on 30 June 1914 at Children's Hospital in Boston. He died of a cerebral embolism following an operation for intussusception. Intussusception occurs when one portion of the bowel slides into the next, much like the pieces of a telescope. When this occurs, it can create a blockage in the bowel, with the walls of the intestines pressing against one another. This, in turn leads to swelling, inflammation, and decreased blood flow to the part of the intestines involved.2 |
