| Administration on the estate of Solomon Collins was granted to James Covell, 16 April 1766. A final accounting dated 6 October 1772 totaled £212, 12s, 10d. It named his deceased sons Reuben, Cyrenus, and Solomon, his son Enoch (noted as absent), and his daughters Azuba Dexter, Eunice Howes, and Hannah Eldridge. (Barnstable Co. Probate, 17:46) Solomon Collins was said to have been "a man of energy and so successful that he became one of the largest land owners in the town. He lived on Tom's Neck [in Chatham] near his father." [History of Chatham by Smith, 318n].2 |
