  1. Birth place and parentage are taken from her death record, at which time she was said to be age 62. That implies birth about 1860-61, but the 1860 census of Brunswick lists her as an 8-year-old. With a marriage in 1879 a birth about 1851 makes more sense than 1861.

Birth*Mary Atkins was born circa 1700.
Marriage*She married Ephraim Doane, son of Hezekiah Doane and Hannah (?), on 5 March 1717 in Truro, Barnstable County, MassachusettsG.1
Death*Mary Atkins died on 23 December 1751 in Middletown, Middlesex County, ConnecticutG.2
There is currently no proof that Mary belongs as a member of this familiy. There is a Mary Atkins who married Ephraim Doane in Truro on 5 Mar 1717. This Mary died 23 Dec 1751 aged 49, which would have her born around 1702, and at age 15 when married. So likely she was at least two years older than that when she died. If so, it would place her birth in 1700 where there is a four year gap in the other children of Nathaniel and Winnifred Atkins at a time when they were having children every other year. Also, the original Eastham records where the children were born show a change in handwriting between the birth of Bethia in 1698 and that of Joshua in 1702, indicating that they the two groupings of children were recorded at different times, so a child Mary born in that time period might just have been missed. Ephraim and Mary (Atkins) Doane had six children, none of them named for Ephraim's parents, and none named Nathaniel or Winnie, either, but four were named for Ephraim's siblings, and the other two - Joshua and Betsey - are the names of two other children of Nathaniel and Winnie, so there is some more circumstantial evidence.

She will be placed as a member of this family because there is no other likely family where she belongs, but proof is lacking. Several online family trees also place her in this family.
