Birth*Nathaniel F. York was born circa 1769 in New HampshireG.1
Death*He died of chronic diarrhea on 23 August 1824 in the U.S. Marine Hospital in Charlestown, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG.2,3
All that is known of this Nathaniel is from his death and probate records and the 1835 Revolutionary War pension roll, which stated that he had served in the U.S. Corps of Artillery and started receiving his pension in Dec 1815. [Ancestry.com, U.S., The Pension Roll of 1835, <https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/60514/images/pensionroll1835i-002152>] He apparently was living in Essex Co., Mass. while receiving his pension, but when he died he was in Charlestown, Mass. (in Middlesex Co.) at the U.S. Marine Hospital. His death record stated that he was a native of New Hampshire. No other Revolutionary War documents seem to name him. There is another soldier from NH named Nathaniel Folsom York but this seems to be a completely different man who was 20 years older and lived mostly in Maine. Many online trees use the 1824 death record for the Maine man, stating that he died in Parsonsfield, Maine for some reason. There is also a probate record for Nathaniel F. York, laborer, of Charlestown, Mass. dated 7 Sep 1824 when John Merry of Boston, mariner, was appointed administrator. It stated that there was no one living in the state who by law could inherit the estate.
