| He is likely the Daniel York found in the 1830 census of Sandwich with one male 30-39 and one female 15-19, although the age would be wrong for him as he'd be about 25 at this point. Is the 15-19 year old woman his wife and they were perhaps just married? Their first known child was born in 1833. |

- He was age 45 in 1850 and 65 in 1860, but in the 1830 census he appears to be in the 30-39 age range when he supposedly would have been only 25. But that census could easily be wrong.

Stephen York
M, b. say 1805
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Stephen York was born say 1805. |
| All that is presently known about him is that he had a son Charles A. who died in Newmarket, NH in 1840, age 3. The 1840 census has been checked but the only Yorks in Newmarket are Daniel (son of Eliphalet of Lee), Solomon and Robert, and none had a son Stephen that we know of. The only one whose household might contain another adult male (other than the head of household) was Daniel and he had a lot of adult children at the time who are accounted for. The only Stephens in the 1840 census in New England were in Plymouth, NH, Wakefield, NH, Dixmont, Maine and Monroe, Maine and none seem likely to be our man.
He is currently being placed as a son of a different Daniel York and his wife Elizabeth based on very tenuous circumstantial evidence. That is the death of his son Charles taking place in Newmarket in 1840 as reported by the Freewill Baptist newspaper "The Morning Star." That same newspaper reports the death of Isaiah York, son of Isaiah, in 1842 also in Newmarket. Isaiah's probable father is this Daniel who died in Newmarket in 1835. Daniel's 1810 census record stated that he had four males under 10 in the family, so Stephen would fit well here. But there is no solid evidence for it and it could very well be wrong. |
