Birth* | Rachel York was born circa 1782 in Brentwood, Rockingham County, New HampshireG.1 |
Marriage* | She married Newell Fogg, son of Caleb Fogg and Olive Prescott, on 24 August 1807.2 |
Death* | Rachel York died on 7 March 1825.3,4 |
Burial* | She was buried in Monmouth Center Cemetery in Monmouth, Kennebec County, MaineG.5 |
| There is currently no evidence stating that she is the daughter of Joseph of Monmouth, but as she was from Monmouth it seems highly likely that in such a small town the two must be related, and they are of ages to be father and daughter.
They had nine children listed in the Fogg genealogy, two of them girls with the middle name of Fairbanks, which may signify a relationship between she and her purported sister Lydia who married a Fairbanks in 1802.
Newell was a farmer, tanner, and contractor. During the War of 1812 he served in Capt. M. Boynton's Co., Lt. Col. Blaisdell's Regt., Sept. 13-27, 1814. He lived in both Livermore and Monmouth, Maine. He married second on 21 Oct 1825 to Eliza Rowell and had seven more children.2 |

Birth* | Edward James Craigie was born on 23 January 1899 in King's Heath, Worcestershire, EnglandG.1 |
| Edward James Craigie, age 24, born in King's Heath, emigrated to Canada on board the ship Montrose in April 1923. He worked as a pattern maker and stated that he intended to stay in Canada and was going to first live with his aunt "Mrs. D. Craigie" who lived at 14(1?) Strachan St. E. in Hamilton, Ontario.
He didn't stay in Canada, however. In Jan 1924 he set sail for home on board the Montclare from St. John, New Brunswick to Liverpool, England, with a destination of his parents address in Handsworth, Birmingham. He is recorded living at that address in 1939 with his parents. The occupation listed for him then was "wood pattern maker" - as it was when he returned to England years before.2,3,4 |

James Atkins
M, b. say 1655
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | James Atkins was born say 1655.1 |
Marriage* | He married Margaret Cleaves, daughter of William Cleaves and Sarah Chandler, circa 1682 probably in Roxbury, Suffolk County, MassachusettsG.2 |
| He may be the James Atkins who was a soldier in King Philip's War in 1675, a resident of Braintree. The maiden name of his wife comes from an article by well-respected genealogist Helen Schatvet Ullmann in the Jan 2005 issue of The American Genealogist. Margaret Cleaves married first, ca. 1679, Thomas Parker, b. Cambridge, Mass., 1 Feb 1657[/8?], son of John and Joanna Parker. He died in Cambridge Village (now Newton) before his inventory was taken on 7 Feb 1679/80. Margaret "took hold" of the covenant at Roxbury on 17 Aug 1679, where she and James were presumably married a few years later. Proof of their marriage comes from the will of Thomas Parker's father, John Parker of Cambridge Village, dated 7 Sep 1686, proved 28 Oct 1686, in which he gave 5 shillings to his "daughter in law Margaret Atkinson." Ullmann goes on to state: "However, Roxbury and Sandwich vital records leave no doubt that Margaret m. (2) ca. 1682, James Atkins, not Atkinson." These Roxbury and Sandwich records do not mention Margaret's maiden name, however, so the presumption is that since the Parker will says she married an Atkinson, and there being no Atkinson in the area with a known wife Margaret, by default her second husband must have been James Atkins. This seems likely, although could be wrong.
James and Margaret apparently moved to Sandwich between the baptism of daughter Sarah in Oct 1686 and the birth of son William in Jul 1690. Other members of Margaret's family moved from Roxbury to Sandwich about that time as well, including her mother, brother William Cleaves, half-sister Sarah Stevens, and half-sister Annis Parker. The fact that family members of Margaret Cleaves also moved to Sandwich is further evidence to suggest that she was the wife of James Atkins.
Nothing is known about either James or Margaret following the birth of their son Thomas in 1703.3,4 |
