  1. Calculating from age at death of 59y, 6m, 10d comes out to 20 Jul 1850, but he was listed as a one-year-old in the 1850 census, so we'll assume he was born about 1849. Also, his death record says he was born in Portland but the family was living in Brunswick, Maine in 1850.

  1. On her death certificate it states that she was age 55y, 5m, 3d, which calculates to 28 Oct 1852, but she is also listed as a two-year old (as Frances L.) in the 1850 census so we'll assume she was born about 1848. Of course that could be a different Frances that died young and they had another in 1852 that was given the same name. The place of birth of Portland comes from the death record, but in 1850 they lived in Brunswick, Maine.

Burial*She was buried on 13 July 1910 in Riverview Cemetery in Streator, LaSalle County, IllinoisG.3
Her unusual first name comes from her death records and the 1910 census, which refers to her as Mate M. The 1900 census of Chicago calls her Mata

Both the 1900 and 1910 censuses state that she was the mother of one child, still living, but that child was not enumerated with them. The 1910 census also states that it was the first marriage for both of them, so if she did have a child it may have been put up for adoption or some other similar explanation.

  1. 1900 census of Chicago gives birth month and year of Sep 1867 and says she was born in Michigan. 1910 census and her death record a few months later confirm state but her age appears to be 48, which implies birth around 1861-2. She isn't to be found in the 1870 or 1880 censuses records of the Phillip Thrall family, however, so more research is needed.

  1. 1920 census of Chicago states that she was age 33 while her 1915 marriage record says she was age 36. Her gravestone apparently (reported on Find-a-Grave, but without an image) says she was born in 1883. The marriage record will be considered more accurate in lieu of other information, although she doesn't appear in the family of Phillip Thrall in the 1880 census, so perhaps 1883 is correct. Both her parents were deceased by 1900 so the next census can't be checked. Both sources state she was born in Michigan.Parents' names from marriage record.
