| On 20 June 1670 Samuel, in partnership with James Thomas, purchased a roughly 600 acre tract of land in Topsham, Maine from the native Americans Jeromkin, Daniel and Robin. He lived there until King Philip's war broke out at which time he went to Cape Porpus. In 1682 he sold out there to John Batson (half of a saw mill) and Isaac Cole (land.) He moved to Mussel Cove (Falmouth Foreside) where he had obtained a grant and built a house before 1680. By 1686 he had built a garrison on 100 acres at North Yarmouth, for which he petitioned for title in 1688. War eventually drove him to Gloucester, Mass. where he lived until his death. His will was recorded 15-27 Mar 1717/8. [GDMNH, p.775] |
