The house built for the family in Dedham still exists and is owned by the Fairbanks Family in America, Inc., and operated as a museum.2 |

Death* | Mary died Executed by hanging as a witch on 22 September 1692 in Salem, Essex County, MassachusettsG. |
| Mary (Towne) Esty was among the last eight victims to be hung as an accused witch in the infamous Salem witch trials. Her spirited petition to the court made as she awaited her execution may have contributed to the end of the witchcraft mania, as there were no further executions for witchcraft in New England after her death. For a complete account of her life and times see the McMillen book "Currents of Malice." |
