| Her obituary appeared on the Neptune Society website and read as follows:
Priscilla Anne Roberts, November 8, 1942 – February 3, 2024. With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Priscilla Anne Roberts, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on February 3, 2024, at the age of 81, with her loving husband, Jim, by her side. Priscilla was born on a night marked by a total blackout during WWII on November 8, 1942, in Lynn, Massachusetts. After graduating from Lynn English High School, she embarked on an adventure to San Francisco with friends, a journey that would shape the rest of her life. It was there she met Jim Roberts, the love of her life. They married in 1966, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly six decades. As a dedicated Navy wife, Priscilla embraced the military life with grace and resilience, living in various locations, including Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, and even Cuba, before finally settling in Jacksonville, Florida, in the mid-1980s. She left a mark of her warmth, kindness, and hospitality in each place she lived. Priscilla's heart was always with her family. She raised four children and was a cherished grandmother to seventeen grandchildren who knew her as "Grammie," showering them with the same love and care she had for her own kids. Her love for children and babies knew no bounds, and her nurturing spirit was felt by all who knew her. A shopping lover, Priscilla had a special knack for finding treasures in Goodwill and thrift stores, often sharing these finds with those she loved. Her joy in these simple pleasures was contagious, bringing smiles to many faces. Priscilla's legacy is one of love, care, and the joy of life's simple moments. Her husband, Jim, children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends and relatives touched by her generosity, spirit, and unconditional love will miss her dearly. Priscilla leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her husband Jim; siblings Marilyn Ahlquist, Robert G. Rhodes, and David (Betty) Rhodes; her children James G. (Joni) Roberts, Emily (Mark) Nadeau, Julie (Kevin) MacEwen, and Carrie (Jeffrey) Sellers, her 17 grandchildren; and a wide circle of friends and relatives who felt her generosity, spirit, and unconditional love. A celebration of life memorial will be on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Highpoint Community Church, 84 Knight Boxx Road, Orange Park, FL. 32065 at 11:00 am, with lunch to follow. Friends and family are welcome. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in Priscilla's honor towards her beloved grandson in Heaven, Knox MacEwen, and the JROTC scholarship fund. Knox passed suddenly at 14 years old while competing in a JROTC event at school in November 2023. Please follow the link and note your donation to the Knox MacEwen fund.6 |
