Birth* | Jeremiah York was born circa 1777 in New HampshireG. |
Marriage* | He married Elsie Palmer on 6 October 1803 in New Durham, Strafford County, New HampshireG.1 |
Death* | Jeremiah York died on 19 September 1862. |
Burial* | He was buried in Pine Woods Cemetery in Sandwich, Carroll County, New HampshireG.2 |
| When they were married in 1803 Jeremiah and Elsie were both from New Durham. He might be the Jeremiah York whose family is found in the 1810 census of Tamworth, NH with 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-44, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 26-44. If this is him he likely moved shortly after that since his children Nancy and Asahel were said to have been born in Sandwich, NH on their death records. There was another Jeremiah York family found in Sandwich in 1810 but that is likely his cousin, son of his uncle Josiah. There was one other York family in Tamworth in 1810, and that was John York, who may well be Jeremiah's brother and is included here as such on that presumption. But it is in no way proven.
His wife Elsie Palmer is not to be found in the 1998 Palmer genealogy titled "A Genealogical Record of the Descendants of William Palmer of Hampton, New Hampshire 1638" by John Calvin Palmer. But she is likely closely related to the Palmer - probably either John or James - who married Jeremiah's aunt Mary York, as that family moved from Middleton, NH to Sandwich, NH. That York's identity is not proven either, but there is likely some kind of a close relationship. She might even the the daughter of Mary (York) Palmer and thus a first cousin to Jeremiah.
In an 1897 article in the White Mountain Reporter of North Conway, NH describing a cemetery in Sandwich, NH it talks about the graves of Jeremiah and his wife Elsie. It stated "He was a soldier in one war and lived until another. A Union flag with the words "Moulton S. Webster Post, G.A.R.," floats over his grave." [Oldnews.com, "A Typical New England Burial Place," White Mountain Record, 29 Jul 1897, <

| The parentage of Jeremiah York is uncertain. He may very well not be a son of John York and Eleanor Durgin. He could just as easily be son of John's brother David or someone else. He is placed here for now so that he can be included in this genealogy but no one should assume there is any proof that he belongs here. |

Birth* | John York was born between 1766 and 1784.1 |
| There is no certainty that John and Eleanor (Durgin) York had a son John, but he is placed here, along with his brother Jeremiah, because they were both in the 1810 census of Tamworth, NH and this seems the most likely family in which to fit them. The senior John York might be their uncle, however, so his placement here should only be considered a guess.
He was living in Tamworth in the 1810 census with a family that consisted of 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-44, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 26-44. |

| The parentage of Daniel R. York is uncertain. His death record said he was born in Holderness to Benjamin and Dorcas York. The only family currently known to be in Holderness at that time was that of Benjamin and Rebecca (Coffin) York, so perhaps the informant on the death record just got the mother's first name wrong. |
