Birth*William Cyrus Hamblen was born on 3 October 1884 in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New HampshireG.1
Marriage*He married Ursaline Louise Griffith, daughter of Joshua Griffith and Mary Greenadge, on 8 July 1906 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, MassachusettsG. William was a salesman living at 20 Cottage Street in Cambridge while Ursaline was a clerk living at 266 Sidney Street in Cambridge.2
William was only a child when both his parents died. By the time of the 1900 census he was living with his aunt and uncle James and Annie (Hamblen) Glynn at 10 Suffolk Street in Cambridge

The 1902 Boston city directory has a William C. Hamblen at 518 Washington Street, but says he boards at Cambridge. The Washington Street address might be where he worked. In the 1903 Cambridge directory William C. Hamblen is a salesman at 195 Broadway, boarding at 290 Norfolk Street in Cambridge.

They were living at 301 Brookline Street in Cambridge when their daughter Gwendolin was born in 1907. William was a salesman at the time.

The 1909 Cambridge directory has a William C. Hamblen, chauffer, living at 25 Chestnut Street.
In 1917 he filled out a World War I draft card and gave his birth date as 3 Oct 1884, and residence with his wife Louise at 203 West 78th Street in New York City. He stated his job as being an actor with Metro Co. at 3 West 61st Street in NYC. This is probably the Metro Pictures Corporation, which was formed in 1915 and eventually merged with another company to become Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer - MGM. William was said to be of medium height and build with gray eyes and brown hair.

In the 1920 census of Winthrop, Mass., Louise is living with her mother Mary, brother Frank and daughter Gwendolin at 177 River Road. It said she and her mother both came to this country in 1886, and that Louise was naturalized in 1906. She worked as a switchboard operator. William is not in evidence in this family at this time.

Marriage*He married first Deborah Cates circa 1798.3
Marriage*Nicholas Hamblen married second Hannah Rich circa 1817.4
Death*Nicholas Hamblen died before 8 August 1854 in Brooks, Waldo County, MaineG. His widow Hannah was appointed executrix of his will on this date. A Joseph Rich was appointed one of the sureties - presumably a relative of Hannah's.5
Nicholas and Deborah were living in Washington Township, Maine when the 1810 census was taken. On 20 Apr 1816 forty-eight residents of Washington Plantation petitioned for the area to be incorporated as the town of Brooks. Nicholas Hamblen was one of the signers. The family was enumerated in the 1820-1850 censuses of Brooks.

In 1843 he was the Brooks tax collector, and was also the local fence viewer in 1844 - 1846.

Based on census records they had at least two other children than these enumerated here - a daughter born between 1795 and 1800 and two sons born between 1800 and 1810. One of the two unknown sons isn't reported in the 1820 census after being there in 1810, so may have died. Of course these census records could record non-family members, too. The daughter might be the Anna Hamblen who married Oliver Walton of Waldo, Maine on 10 Aug 1828.

After Nicholas' death in 1854 the widow Hannah and her youngest daughter Hannah moved in with their son/brother Gershom Hamblen and family in Brooks. This according to the 1860 census.6,7
