M, b. 1858?
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Joseph Wallingford was born in 1858? In New York, New YorkG. He was aged two months, born in New York, in the 1860 census dated 1 June, but had a brother Edouard born in late June of 1860 so that age seems suspicious. Research by Jim Wallingford of Acton, Ontario includes the statement that he was christened on August 10, 1858 in Ottawa, Ontario. This would make the census age wrong, but like a more likely birth date. |
| He was not listed with the family in the 1870 census so may have died young. |
Genevieve Quenonblack
F, b. say 1790
This research is a work in progress, taken from sources of varying reliability. The information should be verified before being relied upon.
Birth* | Genevieve Quenonblack was born say 1790. |
Marriage* | She married second Joseph Wallingford, son of Canadian Wallingfords, say 1811 in Quebec, CanadaG. Another researcher has been unable to find any marriage record for Joseph and Genevieve, or any baptism records for their children. As French Canadian records of the period are fairly complete, this may indicate a common law marriage, in which the children would not be allowed to be baptised.1 |
| Genevieve's maiden name given here is only one variety of the possible spellings. It has been spelling a variety of ways in the records, includining Quenonblack, Quenonblock, Konnoblock, Knoblock, Ileunowlock, Iieunowblack, Iieunowblock, Conovlow and Kennoblue. These last two names are shared in various records with her purported sister Jane, who was Joseph Wallingford's first wife, and we know that Jane's parents Henri and Marie had a daughter Genevieve, so the supposition is that Jane and Genevieve are sister. But this is unproven at present. As stated earlier, their name may have been native American in origin. |
