Golders Green is a district name, not a civil parish, that developed rapidly after the opening of the Underground in the early 20th century; historically it lay chiefly within the ancient parish of Hendon (Middlesex), with adjoining portions touching Hampstead, and it remained in Middlesex until incorporation into Greater London in 1965.
